2) Laurent Koscielny

The French centre-back had formed an excellent partnership with towering German defender Per Mertesacker at the back, that has so far kept club captain Thomas Vermaelen out of the side. Koscielny has been superb with the ball at his feet, and has the technical capability to bring the ball out from the back and start attacks. His defensive contribution has similarly been outstanding.
