Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes topping Group D is highly unlikely at this point, and has therefore decided to rest some key names for the Gunners’ clash with Galatasaray, according to Caught Offside.

Having already qualified for the knockout stages, Wenger has opted to leave Alexis Sanchez and Laurent Koscielny behind for the final group game; something that may not go down particularly well with Arsenal fans.
In both the last two seasons the Frenchman has presumed the same thing, and on each occasion their competition faltered; meaning Arsenal could have topped the group. Both times they failed to, and both times they drew Bayern Munich in the final 16 and were eliminated.
It is of course unlikely that Borussia Dortmund will lose against RSC Anderlecht on Tuesday night, but if the Belgian side do manage to pull off an upset and Arsenal fail to beat Galatasaray, then Wenger is sure to come in for some serious criticism once again.
“A few players [will not travel] because there’s not a lot at stake and we have given a lot in the last two weeks,” Wenger said.
“We have to recover a little bit.
“Alexis will not travel and I don’t think I can play, for example, Koscielny. He didn’t play on Saturday and I don’t see why I should risk him for a game where’s there’s not a lot at stake.
“First place hypothetically, but there’s maybe a 10 per cent chance.”
