Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta will captain Arsenal this season, Goal reports.
Last term’s club skipper Thomas Vermaelen left to join Barcelona this week, meaning the spot was vacant.
Arteta captained Arsenal to Community Shield victory this Sunday afternoon, and his manager Arsene Wenger confirmed after the game that he’ll take the position permanently.
The 32-year-old joined Arsenal in 2011, and has since made 134 appearances, scoring 15 goals, and winning the FA Cup last season.
