Arsenal vs Chelsea: Arsene Wenger urges Gunners fans to show Cesc Fabregas respect
The Gunners are gearing up for a top of the table clash with the Blues on Sunday afternoon, where they will look to cut Chelsea’s lead to just seven points.
However, Arsenal will also be looking over their shoulders, as Manchester United currently lie just a point behind Wenger’s men in third.
But aside from hoping his side can catch up with Jose Mourinho’s men, Wenger also stated that he believes the Red Devils have a chance of making up the ground, too.
“Manchester United still have a chance as well,” he said.
“There was a turning point last week with United not beating Chelsea.
“That was a very important moment of the season for the Premier League.
“Now what we can do is get closer to them and we have that opportunity to do it.
“It still means even if we beat them, mathematically they are still in a very strong position. But you never know.”
However, despite the Gunners winning their previous eight league games, Wenger has failed to beat Mourinho in 12 attempts.
“We were a few times close to beating them.
“(Mourinho) plays strong teams. Saying that the result on Sunday will just be down to the performance on the day.
“We have an opportunity at home to beat them and we need to take it.
“Of course we have a good run of form, good belief an good solidarity.
“We have passed many tests recently. We have another one on Sunday that we want to pass.”
