Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he hopes to make one signing before the close of the transfer window at midnight UK time.
The Gunners boss spoke to Italian reporters in Rome, where he was involved in a Match For Peace friendly with a host of all stars.
Arsenal have come under increasing pressure from fans and the media for what is perceived to be a paucity of options both up front and in defensive positions, and Wenger is keen to reinforce his side before the transfer window shuts.
“My last wish of the market? Take a player before midnight,” said a smiling Wenger in the Italian capital, according to La Repubblica.
The north London outfit have been heavily linked with the signings of Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck and Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.
