Arsene Wenger has insisted that Arsenal do not need to sign a defensive midfielder before next week’s transfer deadline.
Manchester United legend Gary Neville has criticised the Gunners manager for not buying a physical midfielder to complement his ball players.

But Wenger has a different opinion on the balance of his squad and stressed that he knows best.
“Everybody has their opinion and everybody is entitled to have an opinion,” Wenger told reporters after the 0-0 draw with Liverpool last night. “I could prove to you that it’s not necessarily right.
“When you don’t win, you’re wrong and people always find reasons why. Are they the good reasons?
“I think I have enough experience and intelligence to know when it’s right and when it’s wrong.”
The Gunners have been tipped to make a late swoop for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender, who is reportedly valued at around £18m.
Arsenal currently only have Francis Coquelin as a recognised holding midfielder, with Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta other deep-lying options.
