The Gunners also finished their season in a good mood as they came away with a 4-1 victory against West Brom, and 26-year-old forward Theo Walcott scored three goals to notch a hat trick.
Walcott’s contract is set to expire in 2016, but Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insisted that Walcott remains in the team’s future plans.
“He’s a good goalscorer but he’s been out for a year. It takes time to rebuild your confidence. With or without his hat trick, we want him to stay at Arsenal,” Wenger said to ESPN FC.
Walcott had suffered a knee injury that has kept him out for the last year, and he only started four games for the Gunners as a result.
He was still able to score five goals in his appearances though, and his hat trick is sure to make his case to stay with Arsenal even more compelling.
Walcott will have an opportunity to keep proving that he is fully healthy when Arsenal plays in the FA Cup.
