Sanchez felt that the Gunners could guarantee consistent Champions League football.
Arsene Wenger has had a thinly veiled dig at Liverpool ahead of this weekend’s meeting between the Reds and Wenger’s Arsenal side, with the Daily Star reporting that the Frenchman has suggested that it was the consistent guarantee of Champions League football at the Emirates Stadium that tempted Sanchez to the club over Liverpool in the summer.

Sanchez has been one of the players of the season in the Premier League and is in fantastic form for the Gunners, but Liverpool were also keen on bringing him to Anfield in the summer before the Chilean opted to move to North London rather than Merseyside.
The more cosmopolitan lifestyle available in London was suggested as a reason for Sanchez’s choice at the time, but Wenger believes it was more to do with his side’s record of Champions League qualification:
“We have a continuity. All players want to play in the Champions League.”
“It’s quite simple, and we have good continuity on that front.”
“Every great player has a choice to go where he wants and we are glad he has chosen us.”
