The win effectively secures Champions League football for the Gunners, but Wenger says the dominant display showed his side were ready to mount a challenge for the Premier League title next season.
“I feel we have made progress as a team and tonight was a demonstration we have improved,” Wenger is quoted as saying by The Guardian.
“We played the kind of football we love to play with pace, quality and desire. Most importantly we’ve made progress since the start of the season. We’re playing a different way from September.
“We’ve passed a few positive tests. What is at stake now is to maintain our run and finish second.
“Chelsea are worthy winners this season because they have been the most consistent team of all. Let’s finish the season well, prepare well for next season and give them a good fight.”
Arsenal moved level on points with Manchester City in second with a superb display that pushed Hull back into the relegation dogfight.
The Gunners put in a stunning first half performance, with Alexis Sanchez opening the scoring with a deflected free kick.
Aaron Ramsey netted the second with another deflected strike before he provided a superb assist for Sanchez’s second to put the away side 3-0 up before the break.
Stephen Quinn’s header gave Hull some slight hope, but it wasn’t to be as the Tigers slipped to fourth bottom on goal difference.
