Big-spending French side are currently splashing the cash in Europe.
Mega-rich Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco are on the verge of tying up a sensational big-money deal for coveted Atletico de Madrid front man Radamael Falcao, according to reports in the Daily Star.
The Colombia international is one of the most sought-after attackers currently plying their trade on the Continent, although it had been expected that he would sign for either Chelsea, Manchester City or Real Madrid when the transfer window reopened on 1 July.
However, that appears to not be the case now with newly-promoted Monaco set to snap up the 27-year-old in an eye-catching deal worth a reported £51 million.
Falcao, who has been at the Vincente Calderon for just two years now having signed from FC Porto for 40m euros in August 2011, has been in devastating form for Atleti for the past two campaigns, netting 52 goals in just 66 Liga outings for the capital club.
And now the South of France giants have confirmed the player’s imminent arrival, with assistant coach Jean Petit saying: “Yes, we are expecting Falcao and four or five other players of his quality.
“Monaco need a player like Falcao because he can help us a lot and he can attract other top players.
“Signing Falcao is a big coup on sporting and media levels for French football.”
