Newly promoted principality club looking to add Vincent Kompany to their list of summer signings.
Monaco are planning an audacious move for Manchester City and Belgium captain Vincent Kompany this summer, with the newly promoted side willing to spend £26 million to bring in the defender.
L’Equipe have reported that Kompany is just one of a number of signings they are looking to complete soon, and is the only one with a suggested price tag.
The move will see Kompany unable to play in the Champions League football next season, which could be a big factor in his decision this summer.
However, as with Manchester City under Sheikh Mansour, AS Monaco are building an impressive project.
They have signed Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez from Porto for a combined fee of around £60m, and have been strongly linked with a move for Atletico Madrid forward Radamel Falcao.
It would be understandable to see Kompany elect for a change of scenery after a difficult season at Eastlands.
The 27-year old struggled early on this season, so much that he found himself on the fringe of the first team for the first 10 games.
However, he was able to return and lead his team to a second place finish and an FA Cup final appearance, cementing himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.
