Michael Clarke has hit out at former teammate Jason Gillespie after the former Test paceman said the current Australia side were “old blokes” in the lead up to the 2015 Ashes series.

Gillespie, currently coach of English County side Yorkshire, lit the fuse ahead of the much-anticipated series by saying England could capitalise on an “old and tired” Australia due to the presence of Clarke, Chris Rogers and Brad Haddin.
Clarke refused to be drawn into a verbal battle with Gillespie, however he suggested that the 40-year-old would be added to the list of people his side wanted to prove wrong.
“Jason’s entitled to his opinion,” Clarke is quoted as saying by AFP.
“Join the queue. I’ve copped criticism my whole career.
“There’s a long list of people who’ve criticised this team. We might just add ‘Dizzy’ to that list of people we continue to prove wrong.”
However, Gillespie took to Twitter to say his comments had been taken out of proportion.
“An observation that Oz is an ageing team and something that Eng could look to use to their advantage gets blown all out of proportion,” he tweeted.
“Calm down everyone. Sport is about finding ways to get on top of the opposition- I suggested that may be a way in for Eng.”
