Brought back into the third Test team for the injured James Pattinson, Mitchell Starc did not cover himself in glory in Manchester as he took 3-82 for the game.

He did showed his credentials with the bat in the first innings with his 66 as part of his lower-order partnership with Brad Haddin, but he is in the side to take wickets.

Too often Starc did not make the English right-handers play often enough, as he walked a fine line between making them fish at shots away from their body and letting them off the hook and able to shoulder arms.
