Ian Bell’s grading comes as much from his stellar form this summer as his 60 in the first innings at Manchester, as he continues to be the rock of the England batting line-up.

His half-century was looking likely to be turned into triple figures again in the first innings at Old Trafford, before Bell was bowled by an almost unplayable ball from Ryan Harris.

Bell will continue to the pulse of the England top-order for the rest of the series, if he makes runs, then the Three Lions will have a good score.
