Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho insists Burnley star guilty of ‘criminal tackle’
Twitter intensely debates Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic’s controversial red card
The reaction from Matic to the tackle led to a red card that means he will miss the Capital One Cup final with Tottenham. The Stamford Bridge outfit have appealed the decision.
The horror tackle has also received a massive reaction from Blues manager Jose Mourinho, who has claimed that it is an example of a ‘campaign’ against his team. This decision may lead to further outrage from the Portuguese.
However, the governing body have made it clear that the striker will not receive a long term ban for the challenge as referee Martin Atkinson saw the incident during the match. They are eager to avoid games being re-refereed after the fact.
With tough games against Liverpool and Swansea City coming up this will be great news for Sean Dyche’s side. Barnes will now be able to play in both fixtures.
