Aston Villa have completed the signing of FC Groningen winger Leandro Bacuna.
Aston Villa have announced that they have completed the signing of Eredivisie wide midfielder Leandro Bacuna from FC Groningen in a posting on their official website.
The versatile winger is the second deal of the day for Villa, with defender Jores Okore also moving to the Birmingham side today from FC Nordsjaelland.
Manager Paul Lambert has quietly been doing some clever business at Villa Park, bringing in some talented players from across Europe, and after a difficult campaign last season there are reasons to be optimistic for the future.
The young team now have added experience of that tough year, and there is a solid base to build upon this summer, with Bacuna an example of what is to come.
“Leandro’s energy and versatility will be really good for us,” Paul Lambert told the official club website.
“He’s a good player, he has bags of energy and he will make an impact.
“He’s another player we believe will do well for us. He has played in big games and he has lots of experience for a player so young.”
The 21 year-old scored five goals in his 30 games for Groningen in 2012-13, and has played ten matches for the Netherlands Under-21 side.
“It feels great. It’s a new beginning for me and I’m looking forward to being part of this young, hungry team we have at Villa,” said the young Dutchman after signing a three year deal.
