Aston Villa are believed to be leading the way in bringing the former fan favourite back to Villa Park, whilst the Saints and the Black Cats have also registered an interest.
Despite starting the first three matches of the season, boss Louis van Gaal does not consider the 29-year-old to be a part of his long-term plans, and is keen to offload.
Young’s current deal expires in 2016 and as of yet there has been no talks to extend, with Van Gaal now looking to offload him in January in order to maximise his transfer value.
