Everything Kane touches seems to turn to goals at the moment, netting just 80 seconds into his England debut against Lithuania at Wembley.
Delph was speaking at an England press conference ahead of the squad travelling to Turin to play against Italy in a friendly and said, “‘He will get my vote. There are a few contenders but I will pick wisely and I cannot see why I won’t pick Harry.
He is a really hard worker. He has time to progress but he will keep his feet to the ground.”
Fellow England man Chris Smalling wouldn’t reveal who he was voting for, but agreed that Kane would be a name on his shortlist.
He said, “‘I don’t want to say my vote just yet, but he’ll definitely be in the running,”
Delph and Smalling both gave their support to England manager Roy Hodgson, claiming they hope he stays in charge after Euro 2016.
The Villa man saying, “He’s been great for me, he’s brought me into the squad and he’s got a good relationship with the boys.”
The comfortable 4-0 win over Lithuania maintains England’s 100 per cent start to their European Championships qualifying group and Smalling said that the team wanted to win all of their remaining games in Group E, “That would be the ultimate goal and the manager has stressed that in our meetings.
“He sets very high standards and we need to make sure we stick by them, but so far so good.”
England new boy Harry Kane will hope for more senior caps following his debut goal and a season which has defied expectation from even the biggest of sceptics, scoring an amazing 29 goals from 31 starts.
