Fabian Delph puts family mattes to one side to aid team in the fight for Premier League survival.
Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph has revealed that he is willing to miss the birth of his first child in order to give full effort to Villa’s survival campaign.
With the Premier League entering it’s final month, it will coincide with the birth date, and it is something that Fabian has had to convince his girlfriend Natalie that he has to put the team first in his priorities.
We have spoken about it and we know it’s a possibility it could happen when one of the games is about to go on,” said Delph to the Daily Star.
“But this is a crucial part of the season and if I’m down to play in the games, I need to be playing.
“Natalie appreciates the situation and is 100 per cent behind me. I want to see my baby being born and ideally it will happen on a Wednesday!”
The 23-year old has made 27 appearances for the club this season, and has become an integral part of Villa’s defence as the aim to survive the drop this season.
Villa are currently 17th, one place above the drop zone and three points ahead of Wigan, who have two games in hand on them.
The final game of the season is between these two sides, and could very well set up a grandstand finish for the end of the Premier League season.
