Aston Villa are planning a £3.5million move for Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson, according to the Daily Mail.
The Republic of Ireland international saw a move to Sunderland fall through last month despite initial discussions.
The 23-year-old is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford having found himself further down the pecking order as a result of the emergence of fellow midfielder Tom Cleverly.
Gibson is keen to get his career back on track and would jump at the chance to join Alex McLeish’s side in the Midlands.
Last month, Sir Alex Ferguson said Gibson was ‘to be in limbo’ after seeing a deal to Sunderland collapse.
Stoke are believed be monitoring developments and they could rival Villa’s bid for the Irishman.
