Shot stopper has only been in the Midlands for the past two years.
Unwanted Aston Villa keeper Shay Given could be set for a surprise return to Scottish Premier League giants Glasgow Celtic this summer after being deemed surplus to requirements at Villa Park, reports the Daily Mirror.
The experienced Republic of Ireland international has been in the Midlands for just the past two seasons now, having signed for Villa from Manchester City for only £3.5 million on a five-year deal in July 2011.
And in the intervening two-year period the 37-year-old has featured in only 37 matches in all competitions for Villa, including just three games in total in the whole of the previous campaign for Paul Lambert’s struggling outfit after the Scot deciding to use United States international Brad Guzan as his No 1.
As a result, the shot stopper has been told by Lambert that he can leave the club when the summer transfer window finally reopens for business once again on July 1, with Given possibly in line for a return to Glasgow if Celtic are forced to sell current first-choice Fraser Forster.
