Liverpool were thought to be the primary suitors for Barcelona winger Adama Traore, but their pursuit has reportedly been hijacked by Aston Villa.
According to the Daily Star, the Villans are expected to seal the deal for the Barcelona starlet within the next 24 hours.
The 19-year-old winger will sign a three-year deal at Aston Villa, and an option for a fourth year will be included.
Traore was being targeted by Liverpool and was widely rumoured to be headed to Anfield before deciding on a move to Aston Villa.
It remains to be seen whether Traore can produce in his new home. Spanish football expert Graham Hunter claims that Traore will excite the Aston Villa faithful.
“If Villa pull this deal off the Villa fans will ecstatic with the board and Tim Sherwood,” Hunter said.
The transfer fee is expected to be at £7m, which may prove to be a bargain deal if Traore can blossom as a star winger in the Premier League.
Traore struggled for first-team action with the star-studded Catalan side and is understood to be keen to move away from the Camp Nou.
Aston Villa suffered a major loss in the summer after striker Christian Benteke completed his move to Liverpool in a £32.5m deal.
It looks as though the Midlands club will gain some revenge however should the deal for Traore be finalised.
