Manchester City will block any attempts by Aston Villa to sign James Milner and Adam Johnson on loan, according to The Sun.
Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish enquired about the England pair during discussions over keeper Shay Given’s move from the Etihad last month.
Milner, 25, left Villa only a year ago in a £24million deal while winger Johnson, 24, cost £6m from Middlesbrough in February 2010.
But City boss Roberto Mancini insists neither player will be leaving.
According to reports earlier in the summer, Milner had grown discontent at City after struggling to establish himself as a first choice in his debut season.
The former Leeds man was believed to contemplating a move elsewhere to secure more games time to maintain his place in Fabio Capello’s pecking order for England,
He was also frustrated at not getting many opportunities in his favoured central role, having been deployed mostly on the wing.
Milner scored only once in 28 appearances last season and was an unused sub in the FA Cup Final win over Stoke, but City are insisting Milner must stay.
