The Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins are both looking to improve their offensive line play, and the Dolphins also upgraded other parts of their offense.
The Atlanta Falcons will play their first preseason game against the Miami Dolphins on Friday. The Falcons are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season, and they acted by upgrading their offensive line through free agency and the draft.
Jake Matthews was selected in the first round, and he is expected to start right away at right tackle. He and guard Jon Asamoah will be key players to watch. Wide receivers Julio Jones and Roddy White will each return healthy, so their performance along with quarterback Matt Ryan’s will give an indication on how the Falcons’ upcoming season will go.
The Dolphins also struggled mightily with their offensive line last season, so they drafted Ja’Wuan James in the first round and signed left tackle Branden Albert in free agency. Guard Daryn Colledge was also brought in to bolster the offensive line.
Jarvis Landry will provide an upgrade at wide receiver, which needed more depth. Knowshon Moreno was signed to a one-year deal to upgrade the running back position, and he has just been activated from the injury list. This will give him an opportunity to compete for the starting job with Lamar Miller.
It will be up to quarterback Ryan Tannehill to take the next step forward, or the Dolphins may eventually look to upgrade at quarterback.
