Before their loss to Barcelona, Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone said that Real Madrid would be making a huge mistake if they fired Ancelotti and would regret it down the road.
“He is a fantastic coach and a great man manager. It’s obvious that if Madrid let him go they will lose an important figure because he is the man who brought together the squad. If Ancelotti leaves, it’ll be Madrid’s loss,” Simeone said to ESPN FC.
It is hard to argue with this statement considering Real Madrid is in second place with 89 points, although they suffered a disappointing 3-2 loss to Juventus in the Champions League semifinals.
Former French star Zinedine Zidane is being rumored as a potential replacement for Ancelotti, but he has endured a disappointing season of his own as Real Madrid’s Castilla coach.
Zidane is being viewed as a hot candidate due to his history as Ancelotti’s assistant.
