Spanish champions keen on World Cup winner.
La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are said to be preparing a move for Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle after making him a priority during the transfer window, according to talkSPORT.
The club from the Spanish capital are currently in the process of rebuilding their side after losing a number of their top performers including Diego Costa, Felipe Luis and David Villa, though coach Diego Simeone has sought to bring in Mario Mandzukic and Antoine Griezmann to the club in preparation for their title defence.
Simeone is a thought to be a huge admirer of the German’s talents and believes his hardworking attitude and versatility would be ideal for his side.
The 23-year-old only joined the Blues last summer from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen for £18 million, and made an impression during his first campaign by bagging nine goals in 43 appearances.
He also played a key role in Germany’s World Cup victory this summer that saw him wrack up three goals en route to the final.
However, he is expected to play a more prominent role in the Chelsea side next term and are not keen to sell.
That won’t put off Diego Simeone, though, who is desperate to add another forward to his side, but knows he must sell at least two more stars to fund the move.
