Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is interested in signing Manchester United playmaker Shinji Kagawa and could be readying a £14m bid for his services, according to the Daily Express.
The Spanish champions have already made an enquiry to United over the Japanese star’s potential availability, and are ready to come back with a concrete offer for him now as they look to continue adding to their squad this summer.
Having lost the likes of Diego Costa and Filipe Luis, Atletico have spent well to sign Mario Mandzukic and Antoine Griezmann to enhance their attack, and Kagawa could now be the latest to come in in that part of the pitch.
A creative midfielder is seemingly high on Simeone’s agenda, with Arsenal star Santi Cazorla also being linked with the club several times this summer, while Kagawa is the second United player in recent days to be targeted by the La Liga giants after Javier Hernandez.
Kagawa has struggled to find his best form at Old Trafford after arriving from Borussia Dortmund back in 2012, and may benefit from a move elsewhere in a bid to play more regular first-team football.
