The 30-year-old was rumoured to be a target for the Gunners last summer as they stepped up their search for a replacement for the departing Bacary Sagna, who they had lost on a free transfer to join title rivals Manchester City.
However, with the club closing in on Newcastle’s Mathieu Debuchy, Juanfran opted to stay at the Vicente Calderon instead of making the move to the Premier League as he was content with the La Liga champions.
“I know where I am. Atletico have pushed for me to stay,” he said.
“I rejected two offers from Arsenal. It’s what I feel.”
The former Real Madrid graduate was a key component of Atleti’s title win last term, and has once again kept his spot in the side again this term making 40 appearances across all competitions.
