Spurs must hurry to land Griezmann.
Tottenham Hotspur are being forced to hurry up their chase of 23-year old Real Sociedad forward Antoine Griezmann with Spanish champions Atletico Madrid reportedly also moving for the French ace.
Spurs have been eyeing Griezmann for the past few weeks and may have been looking to broker a cut-price deal for the wantaway star, but the Daily Express reports that they might now have no choice but to trigger his £25 million release clause.
Spurs’ new boss Mauricio Pochettino has not landed any big names in attack so far at White Hart Lane, and seems to have put his hopes on the emerging French star.
Atletico though are out to quash Spurs’ transfer plans by rivaling the North Londoners for the France international and might also be able to match Sociedad’s valuation of the player.
Hence, it could be up to Griezmann to decide his own fate as he wants a step up in his career.
Atletico offering Champions League football might sway the deal in their favour as the young forward is keen to make his mark on the European stage.
