The Spanish champions are after Hernandez and Kagawa.
Manchester United pair Javier Hernandez and Shinji Kagawa are the subject of a £25m double swoop from Atletico Madrid, reports the Guardian.
After concluding their pre-season tour of the USA with a 3-1 win over Liverpool on Sunday, new United manager Louis van Gaal is ready to start culling his squad.
It looks as if time is up for Hernandez and Kagawa at Old Trafford, with doubts also remaining over the futures of Anderson, Marouane Fellaini and Nani.
Atleti are keen on the duo as they look to rebuild their own squad following the departure of Diego Costa, Thibaut Courtois and Filipe Luis to Chelsea and Javier Manquillo’s imminent loan move to Liverpool.
Kagawa is keen to play as a No.10, but van Gaal sees Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and youngster Adnan Januzaj all ahead of the Japan international for a place there.
The attacking midfielder’s former side Borussia Dortmund are also keen on bringing him back to Germany and Atletico will face stiff competition.
The man known as ‘Chichartio’ is also ready to be told his future lies away from the Red Devils, with Rooney, Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck all ahead of the Mexican for a place in the starting XI.
Diego Simeone views the 26-year-old as the ideal candidate to come in to cushion the blow of losing both Costa and David Villa this summer – despite having already signed Antoine Griezmann and Mario Mandzukic.
