Attack: Romelu Lukaku, Javier Hernandez
An exciting new strike partnership could potentially be formed at Atletico next season if the club get their hands on two rumoured targets upfront. With the arrival of Costa at Chelsea likely to end the Stamford Bridge career of young forward Romelu Lukaku, it has been suggested that the talented 21-year-old could move in the other direction to help fill the void left by Costa in Simeone’s lineup. After two highly impressive loan spells in the last two seasons with West Bromwich Albion and then Everton, Lukaku is fast becoming regarded as one of the best young players in Europe, and is also being chased by a host of other top clubs such as Real Madrid and Juventus.
Alongside him could be another of Manchester United’s recent under-performers. Mexican international Javier Hernandez has never really built on his impressive first season in English football and could make way this summer as the Red Devils look to strengthen for next year. Along with Nani, Hernandez is reportedly an option for Atletico in any swap deal involving Miranda‘s move to Old Trafford, and if anyone can revitalise the career of the 26-year-old goal-poacher, it’s Diego Simeone.
