Saunders vs Eubank Jr: (Video) Saunders joins in from Spain via Skype.
Billy Joe Saunders and Chris Eubank Jr have verbally agreed on a £100,000 charity bet ahead of their highly-anticipated clash on November 29.
The duo feature on the undercard of the heavyweight clash between Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury, but following on from Saunders’ recent interviews and antics, the fight has arguably captured the attention of the boxing world and general public more so than the main event.
While Eubank Jr is set for a warm-up fight on October 25, Saunders has previously offered his rival £20,000 to not take that fight in order to avoid picking up any injuries which would jeopardise their bout next month.
However, it appears as though that offer was rejected, but another which will see the loser on November 29 pay £100,000 to a charity of the winner’s choice seems to have been verbally accepted by Eubank Jr.
Host Alan Brazil was keen to suggest that the legal teams confirm the deal before any more was spoken of it, but ultimately the stakes were raised even higher on Thursday.
Saunders has also previously suggested that he would retire if he suffered a loss to his British rival, claiming that he is a level above him as Eubank Jr has not fought anyone of sufficient class previously.
However, the challenger is confident that he will silence Saunders and take the European, British and Commonwealth belts from him. In the meantime, fight fans will hope to see the pair in the same room at a press conference ahead of the bout with it yet to materialise in two attempts in recent months.
