The goalkeeper was sacked by Sydney FC in April after ‘serious misconduct’.
Australian journalist Ray Gatt claims disgraced goalkeeper Liam Reddy will sign for Grand Final winners Central Coast Mariners on Monday.
The 32-year-old was sacked by Sydney FC in April after drinking heavily whilst on a flight to Wellington for the finals match at the end of the 2011-12 season and has been playing for NSW Premier League side Sydney United after a brief stint in Iran.
But it’s now been claimed by Gatt, a sports writer for The Australian, that Reddy will be thrown an A-League lifeline by Mariners chief Graham Arnold ahead of the 2013/14 season.

Lot of hate out there for Liam Reddy signing with CCM. Arnie hasn’t pulled wrong rein too often. Should trust his judgement on this.

It was first reported in July that the Mariners were looking at Reddy and were prepared to take him on trial despite his previous indiscretions, with Arnold conceding that it would be a make or break move for the gloveman.
“I’ve watched him play on five or six occasions, and met up with him, and he comes across to me as a good guy,” Arnold told Fox Sports. “I think he knows that if we take him on, it’s his last opportunity. He’s 31 years of age now, and got three kids.
