Rogers says the pressure of being captain in a struggling side is directly affecting Morgan’s form with the bat.
“It is always difficult when you are a captain of a side that’s struggling and not playing to its potential. When you are trying to turn that round it’s one of the hardest things you have to do as a cricketer,” he told The Express.
“He has got some big challenges ahead but also with his own game as he is not playing some of the best cricket he can so that will be hurting his confidence a little bit.”
However the Australian veteran backed his former Middlesex teammate to turn his form around and be the man to continue to lead England in the future.
“Eoin is captain of a side that is not playing that well and as a result he has to play with a fair bit of responsibility and it’s not ideal for him.
“Knowing him as a person though, he is going to continue to fight hard and enjoy it and I am very hopeful that he will turn it round and start playing well again.”
England face Bangladesh in a must-win clash on Monday (3.30am GMT).
