Both players have been granted permission to Melbourne for the friendly by Holger Osieck.
Melbourne Victory will be able to call upon Nathan Coe and Connor Pain for the friendly with Liverpool after they were released from the Australia squad.
The duo were in Seoul on East Asian Cup duty with the Socceroos but didn’t feature in the goalless draw with tournament hosts South Korea on Saturday with head coach Holger Osieck deciding to release them for the clash with the Premier League giants, the Herald Sun understand.
Goalkeeper Coe and midfielder Pain are now back Down Under and preparing with the rest of the Victory squad for the match at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Wednesday night. They will re-join the national team on Thursday ahead of the second group fixture against Japan in Hwaseong.
Osieck won’t consider the pair for the bout in Hwaseong and will instead bring them back into consideration for the meeting with China next Sunday night.
The 64-year-old German coach is sweating over the fitness of Dario Vidosic for the Japan game after he sustained a foot injury against South Korea, although the midfielder dismissed any concerns.
“It’s nothing too serious, it’s just a little bit of bruising in the side of the foot, so it a little bit sore at the moment,” Vidosic said.
