Australia Twenty20 captain Aaron Finch has told of his anger after a narrow miss with a with an artificial flamethrower during his side’s loss to South Africa on Wednesday night.
Finch cut a shocked figure when flames were shot into the air as he went to pick up the ball from over the Adelaide Oval boundary line.
He initially hesitated when collecting the ball, knowing the flames were shot in the air to celebrate a boundary.
“I sort of stood off, waiting for them to go off,” he said.
“And when they didn’t (I thought) they must have pulled the pin on them for that time – and then bang.
“It was a shock, I can tell you.
“I’m sure it could be quite dangerous.”
