Australia coach Darren Lehmann says he will confront Shane Warne over comments the former spinner made in the commentary box about Test quick Mitchell Starc.
Warne, who demanded more aggression from the Australian bowling attack, labelled Starc “soft” as the NSW paceman laboured to figures of 0/56 on day one in Brisbane.
“He has to change his body language, it needs to be stronger – he looks a bit soft,” Warne said on Channel Nine.
“He needs to puff his chest out a bit, look harder.”
Lehmann hit back at his former teammate after the close of the day’s play, and said he would take the issue up with Warne himself.
“Soft? He used those words?,” Lehmann said after India punished Australia’s depleted attack to be 4 for 311 at stumps on day one.
“That’s very harsh.
“At the end of the day…on a hot day it is hard work for a fast bowler on a good Gabba deck.
“I will take it up with Shane myself.”
