A group of Australian punters have strike it rich today after Josh Hazlewood walked out onto the Gabba to make his Test debut against India in Brisbane.
Almost nine years ago the they backed the then teenager to at odds of $500-1 to play Test cricket before his 30th birthday.
The 23-year-old has done it with more that six years to spare after he was presented with his baggy green cap today.
The Daily Telegraph reported each punter placed a AUD$100 on Hazlewood and they stand to collect $50,000 each from British bookmakers.
Josh’s father Trevor would not reveal the identities of the punters, but they are believed to be from the country town of Tamworth in New South Wales.
