Rookie all-rounder Akshar Patel will replace Ravinda Jadeja for the final two Tests of India’s tour of Australia, the BCCI announced on Tuesday.
Patel is a left-arm spinner and a handy left-handed batsman like Jadeja and has nine one day internationals to his name, but is yet to feature in a Test for India.
Jadeja has suffered a shoulder injury and will return to India to undergo a rehabilitation program, according to a statement.
It is unclear however if Jadeja would remain available for the World Cup which begins on February 14.
India is also due to take part in a one-day triangular series with Australia and England ahead of the tournament.
