Tomas Berdych has denied trying to rile Andy Murray during their heated Australian Open semi-final.
Murray complained to the chair umpire about the Czech’s behaviour after passing Berdych at the net following a tense first set.
However, Berdych denied any wrongdoing, saying there was nothing untoward in the incident.
“I said to myself: ‘Well done, Tomas’,” he is quoted as saying by the BBC.
“That’s it. That’s what I said. I think I’m allowed to do that when I win a set.”
Murray defeated Berdych in four sets to reach the final of the opening Grand Slam event of the season.
The world number six will face the winner of Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka in Sunday’s final.
