3. Freezing out Emmanuel Adebayor
Villas-Boas’ reluctance to use Emmanuel Adebayor at the start of the season was understandable, given the striker had been given the chance to play (last season) and given the chance to leave (in the summer) and opted for neither. But with Roberto Soldado and Jermain Defoe unable to score in the league and both looking unsuitable for the lone striker role, the time has long since past for Villas-Boas to forgive Adebayor and hand him another chance. But the Portuguese seems too proud or too stubborn to play the former Arsenal man and it appears unlikely Adebayor will feature for Spurs again while the 36-year-old remains in charge.
