Anthony Watmough could remain at the Manly Sea Eagles with reports in The Daily Telegraph of a change of ownership at the club.
Part owner Rick Penn now owns 90 per cent of the club after buying out part-owners Quantum.
It is believed the move will go a long way in ending the internal board room tensions that undermined the stability of the club this season.
It is understood that Quantum was heavily involved in assembling the roster and negotiating with players.
The newspaper report says Rick Penn is a “huge fan” of Watmough and will aim to convince the 31-year-old to stay at the Brookvale-based outfit.
