Rabiot is the latest linked with the Old Trafford.
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot has been a transfer target for Arsenal and Chelsea for some time, but now Louis van Gaal wants the youngster at Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail.
The 19-year-old is desperate to obtain more first team football and thinks he may have to leave the Parc des Princes this summer to achieve that.
Rabiot started just 17 matches for PSG in all competitions in 2013/14, due to their plethora of talent the Qatari backed club have at their disposal.
The Frenchman is a product of the youth academy in the Paris and many fans would be disappointed to see one of the few products of the club sold on.
However, with manager Laurent Blanc unable to promise Rabiot more game time the France Under-21 international is looking to other alternatives and the Premier League looks like a likely destination.
Van Gaal is currently overseeing an overhaul of his squad at Old Trafford, having been appointed as David Moyes’ successor at United on May 19.
The Red Devils are reeling after their worst ever Premier League points tally and failing to qualify for European football for the first time since 1981 last term.
The Dutchman is keen to improve things as soon as possible – despite remaining in charge of the Netherlands senior team until after the 2014 World Cup – and is working closely with chief executive Ed Woodward to ensure this happens.
Central midfield is a priority for van Gaal, with current figures such as Tom Cleverley and Marouane Fellaini failing to impress last campaign.
Big names such as Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos and Cesc Fabregas of Barcelona have been linked with United, but it looks unlikely either will sign now.
Yet with the ability to play centrally, in a holding role and even on the left, along with a wide range of passing and strong physicality, Rabiot could be the perfect signing.
