The Three Lions will be without the starlet.
Jack Wilshere seemed to be having an injury-free season this term, but is now truggling with an ankle problem and will not play for Arsenal in the Champions League.
Wilshere has not traveled to Germany for the north London side’s clash with Borussia Dortmund and there is further bad news as the 21-year-old is set to miss the two upcoming friendlies for England as well.
The midfielder picked up the injury against Dortmund a fortnight ago, but did play in the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace the following weekend before the problem flared up again in the League Cup tie with Chelsea.
Manager Arsene Wenger does not have a positive verdict on the Englishman being ready for the match with Manchester United on Sunday and therefore the likeliness of playing for the Three Lions.
“I will know more on Thursday, when he will have another test,” the Frenchman told the Mirror.
“If that not successful, he will definitely be out for Sunday; and if he is out for Sunday, then he will be out for England as well.”
This will be a blow for national manager Roy Hodgson, but is probably more of a problem for Wilshere as the games are friendlies and therefore the boss can experiment with alternatives.
If other midfielders were to impress against Chile and Germany then it would perhaps stand them in better stead for a place in next year’s World Cup squad over the Gunners ace.
That being said, if Wilshere can maintain the form shown so far this season then going to Brazil next summer should not be an issue.
