The Red Warriors captain says the FAM and FAS joint-championship match in August is important.
Kelantan captain Badri Radzi wants the club to place great importance on the FAM and FAS joint-championship match with Tampine Rovers.
It was announced on Tuesday that an annual championship match will be contested between the winners of the Malaysian and Singaporean champions starting in August with the 2012 title-holders going head-to-head this time around.
With national pride now hanging in the balance Badri is urging the Red Warriors to adopt a serious attitude towards the game, as well as seizing the opportunity to utilise the preparation time for their upcoming Malaysia Cup campaign.
“We just retained our FA Cup last June, so of course to represent Malaysia in this tournament is a huge privilege for us,” the 31-year-old midfielder told Goal.com.
“I am looking at this game very seriously and seeing it like a final.
“We beat LionsXII in our final game of the Super League and we hope we can repeat that success against another club from Singapore.”
Kelantan and Tampines will be joined by another Singaporeon club – Warriors FC – to do battle in the inaugural joint-Championship that takes place on the 12 and 13 August.
