Besiktas are interested in Red Devils full-back Buttner.
With Manchester United seemingly closing in on a deal for Everton left-back Leighton Baines, Besiktas are looking at the possibility of signing Alexander Buttner, reports De Telegraaf.
The 24-year-old has only spent a year at Old Trafford following a £4m transfer from Vitesse Arnhem last summer, but failed to establish himself ahead of stalwart Patrice Evra.
Buttner managed just four Premier League starts – although did score two goals and provide one assist – as well as playing eight more times in other competitions.
If Baines were to arrive at United as well then the Dutchman’s opportunities with the Red Devils would be even more limited and Besiktas are willing to give the full-back another avenue.
Likewise, with Fabio having returned from a loan spell at QPR and able to play on either side of defence, Buttner would face fierce competition at United.
Yet despite limited game time with the Premier League champions the defender has enjoyed his time in England and it’s thought that the former Vitesse star is considering a move as it is a World Cup year, as supposed to being unsettled in Manchester.
Buttner has been on the cusp of the Netherlands national side for some time, having played well for a number of years and has represented the country at all other levels from under-19s.
At Besiktas the full-back is likely to be first choice and although the Turkish league is not as well respected as football in England, Buttner has more chance of catching the attention of national coach Louis Van Gaal by playing in the starting XI.
