Bale is believed to be unhappy at the La Liga giants after being made a scapegoat for the side’s trophy-less season, and the Red Devils are ready to pounce on the 25-year-old.
According to Metro, United are ready to begin talks with Madrid bosses in an attempt to bring Bale back to the Premier League.
The report suggests that Real Madrid will be happy to let the Welsh international leave the Bernabeu for the right fee just two years after he signed for the club in a mega £85m transfer deal.
Real Madrid sacked manager Carlo Ancelotti after he failed to back up his successful first season, and the Italian remained an avid supporter of Bale despite the criticism the winger received this season.
Bale scored 17 goals and created 10 assists in all competitions this season, leaving many to suggest that the criticism was unwarranted.
