The China-born forward inspired the Tigers to victory Toa Payoh Stadium.
Balestier Khalsa coach Darren Stewart hailed Qui Li as “world class” after he played a starring role in the 3-1 in over Hougang United on Monday.
The 553-strong crowd at the Toa Payoh Stadium were treated to a moment of divine inspiration from the Chinese-born forward as the Tigers endeavoured to turn their dominance of possession into goals.
Masterfully controlling a long ball upfield in the 36th minute, Qui then proceeded to turn and lash a dipping 35-yard volley over the head of Cheetahs goalkeeper Fadhil Salim to give his side a deserved lead.
It proved the catalyst for victory as Balestier scored twice more to seal the win with Stewart glowing with praise for the Singapore international, who also won the penalty that led to the third goal, after the game.
“That’s what you get from Qiu, isn’t it?” he said to Goal.com
“He’s just world class, that’s why he’s here. As [assistant coach] Kevin [Wee] said after the last game, we don’t need to talk about Qiu any more [because we know what he’s capable of]. But without the other players he can’t do what he does [too].”
Min-Oh Kim and Vitor Borges De Souza were also on the scoresheet for Balestier as they moved up to fourth in the S.League.
