The Baltimore Ravens have announced that they will conduct a jersey exchange for fans who own a Ray Rice jersey, in light of the contract termination and indefinite suspension of the team’s former star RB.
Traditionally when a player causes embarrassment to a franchise and is removed from the team, a jersey exchange is done to maintain the integrity of the team.
Prior to the event, Rice was one of the most popular players on the Ravens – there may be a lot of jerseys to exchange.
The Ravens released Rice on Monday following the release of a disturbing video which showed Rice punching his wife in a hotel elevator. Less than an hour after being released, the NFL gave Rice an indefinite suspension.
The New England Patriots offered a similar exchange for Aaron Hernandez jerseys in 2013 after the former star tight end was arrested, charged with murder and released by New England all on the same day.
