Azpilicueta has developed into ‘the best defender in England’ according to Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville and it’s therefore little surprise such interest in the full-back has developed.
However, there is good news for fans at Stamford Bridge as the Spain international says he has no intentions of leaving West London to return to his home country.
“I do not think about [a move to Spain],” Azpilicueta was quoted by the Daily Express.
The 25-year-old joined the Blues from Olympique Marseille in the summer of 2012, but initially struggled to establish himself in English football.
Yet the return of Jose Mourinho as manager coincided with a revitalisation for the Spaniard as he was moved to left-back and quickly usurped Ashley Cole from the role.
Azpilicueta is now established in the position and even the £15.8m summer arrival of Filipe Luis from Atletico Madrid hasn’t dislodged him.
